Craig is a Certified Financial Planner™ Practitioner with over 23 years’ experience in the greater Tampa Bay area assisting with the financial needs of families and their businesses.
He graduated from the University of North Dakota with a BS in Financial Management. While attending he was a scholarship athlete, 4-year letter winner, and team captain of the football team (1989-1992).
Craig has been securities licensed since 1993. He was one of the few financial advisors with direct experience on the floor of a major financial exchange working with foreign currency options and futures on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. He later began work in compliance at the 3rd largest independent brokerage firm in the US and was quickly promoted to Senior Compliance Examiner overseeing customer complaints, branch examinations and securities fraud investigations.
As time went on, Craig wanted to bring this combination of unique and practical experience to the financial planning industry and relocated to the Tampa area where he founded his own financial planning practice in 1997. To lay a firm academic foundation for his work, he began his studies to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ PRACTITIONER. CFP® professionals must develop their theoretical and practical financial planning knowledge by completing a comprehensive multiyear course of study at a college or university offering a financial planning curriculum approved by the CFP Board. This was critical for his future work in the financial planning process, tax planning, employee benefits and retirement planning, estate planning, investment management and insurance.
He received further training in 2001 by obtaining a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst designation (CDFA). He sought this training to help individuals through the critical financial time of divorce. He used this training and gained years of experience working with clients beyond just making assets lists, but rather helping them create a detailed post-marriage financial plan of action.
Craig resides in Largo with his children, Jack and Allison. Craig is an avid boater and enjoys all aspects of Tampa Bay’s water opportunities. He enjoys coaching youth sports, snowmobiling, off-road motorcycling, softball, photography, weight training, and previously ran the Miami Marathon. Craig is a charter member of the Sunset Optimist Club and favors local charities geared towards helping children.
