James Appelt, CPA

James Appelt owns Appelt & Associates, Certified Public Accountants in Clearwater, Florida where he practices in the areas of accounting, taxation, financial planning and small business consulting.

Mr. Appelt has degrees from Stetson University (B.B.A. cum laude, 1984, Master of Accountancy with honors, 1985). He was awarded the Elijah Watt Sells award for his performance on the November, 1985 Uniform Certified Public Accountant exam. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants presented the award for achieving one of the top 100 scores out of the 70,000 candidates in the United States.

In January 1994 Mr. Appelt received a Certificate of Educational Achievement in tax planning and consulting for closely held businesses from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Appelt has been qualified as an expert witness in both Federal and Florida State Courts.

Mr. Appelt has made several technical presentations to his peers in the area of taxation and has presented seminars to small business owners. He has been a guest on radio and television talk shows. Mr. Appelt is a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and both the Tax Division and Personal Financial Planning Division of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
